Tonight is another FNM @ Manawerx. I’m gonna tweak my deck a little bit, must include grimoire thief and a couple of other 1 CC (Casting Cost) drop. Just went to penny-arcade and today’s strip is absolutely hilarious, its just what I’ve been going through. Every late evening around 7pm, my friend will call, "Jom, Magic!" and usually I’m asleep and I’m like "Uhhh, ye la ye la" but sometimes I just give valid reasons like too tired and busy with work and most often he will insist on me going. Most often I just went along.

Last Sunday (City Champs Trial IV at Summit, USJ) I lost badly against burn deck and weird G/U/W ramp deck which uses teferi’s moat and sacred mesa + crovax. That deck is really good. Well played too. My score was like 2 wins and 4 losses. Both of the wins are against kithkin decks.

Its been quite some time, my mind have been wandering quite a lot, mostly in limbo. Its like one of those office space moments when you just don’t want to do anything and just phase out.

So anyway, I’m back. Hopefully I’ll stay focused and spirited for years to come!

 

Alright! Yesterday’s FNM (Friday Night Magic)!

1st round, Mono White Kithkin (stupid mistakes done, bad luck on drawing), loss 0-2.

2nd round, Mono White Kithkin AGAIN (good hand, better luck), won with enough damage swinging with Silvergill Adept, Merrow Reejerey, Stonybrook Banneret and Mirror Entity, 2nd game mirror entity swinging with reejerey and sygg and deals 15 dmg, won 2-0.

3rd round, Mono Green Elf. I swing hard and won 1st match. 2nd match, I didn’t sideboard and got beaten pretty bad with his Eyes of the Wisent on the board. Sideboarded Pollen Lullaby and Teferi’s Moat (which obviously was answered with krosan’s grip), for some reason I have no idea why the hell I didn’t put in my WoG. I should’ve put it in! Argh! I got ran over by creatures and Essence Warden adding his life total to 36 with Elvish Promenade. Loss 1-2.

Since Eyes of the Wisent is pretty much Mono Green’s Answer to blue users, I should’ve put in Voidmage Prodigy and Summon the School. It should buy me sometime to control the board.

Last night went for an FNM at SS14. Bought 4 Rune Snags and 3 Faerie Trickery. I had no confidence in my millfolk so I changed back to merfolk aggro.

1st round - Fought with Blue black deck, with riftwing cloudskate hitting me with loxodon warhammer. only 3 lands came out, couldn’t last long enough to kill and Mana screw. Second match. Good hand, and then no creatures came out, lots of counters came out but no creatures. Only lands. 0-2. Should have shuffled properly and mulligan. 1 table shuffle and the combining shuffle thing. And judge of currents to keep me alive. Right now games that stretch doesn’t seem favorable to me.

 

2nd round - Dragonstorm! I have no trickbind. Killed most of my creatures with direct damage and finishes off with Dragonstorm. 2nd match.  Good hand,  and opponent have bad hand. Killed him off before he got any combos going. 3rd Match. Good hand, but my timing was off, I shouldn’t have cast Mirror Entity early (should wait until I have enough mana to boost all my creatures to become 2/2 and attacked). If I waited with mirror entity in hand, he would’ve been more relaxed and gave me a go and I could’ve killed him with one swing. He killed all my creatures with direct damage and grapeshot storm (sorcery). 1-2

3rd round - Reveillark. Infinite life combo and infinite bounce combo. I felt both. Lost 0-2. I should’ve put more counters especially Declaration of Naught to lock down all his combos. 1st lock down Venser so he couldn’t bounce my DoN. Next, lock down reveillark / body double whichever I see fit and lastlyl mirror entity. Faerie Trickery should be used to lock down reveillark. And tormod’s crypt (after DoN have come into play and named Venser).

After 3 weeks in a row without any wins. I felt fucking depressing. But hey, "I get knocked down but I get up again, you’ll never gonna keep me down!" (Chumbawamba). Keep up the professional attitude and keep on playing!
