Curved image tabs

Alright, whats wrong with the above tab? Looks nice doesn’t it? Sure looks nice to me. But its too much work to be bothered with. The picture above was taken from Cyberjaya’s website. I was involved in the project. It was a hard project, mostly because I’m unfamiliar with the framework used as the backbone for the website. Vanilla Forum.
Ok you can see the lines dividing the tabs. There’s actually 3 images for the divider between the buttons. Multiple conditions and javascript required to manipulate which lights up for which. You can look at the javascript that I wrote for it, not the most best code but it works. Hrmm, I can’t quite explain it, you just have to try it to understand how bothersome it is, or maybe I just don’t know the right and easy way. :\
All I can say right now is avoid curved image tabs!

So what’s interesting, nowadays?
- Nice article by Paul Graham, You Weren’t Meant to Have a Boss.
- Ignorance doesn’t make a Programming Language Sucks. Heh, true that! Dont let anyone drag you into arguing about programming language; What? You like xyz language? ok sure, use that whatever makes you happy. Unless I’m the solution architect who decides which language to be used in a company, then thats a different story.
- Masjid & Surau, is going to be resumed, hopefully it’ll be up and running by the end of this month!
- Google Interviewed but I didn’t get the job as System Engineer (I have forgotten a lot of linux stuffs so lots of questions were answered wrong).
- Some ASP projects, just CRUD modules.
- Still losing in Friday Night Magic, I think I’m gonna drop the merfolk theme and use something practical instead. Still johnny (an R&D persona used by WotC) at heart, so I’ll think of something.
- Been playing DotA, heh, these players have no idea what "pro" means. They just throw it around as if they know and ignorance to them is bliss. Pro? Professional people doesn’t bitch and leave game when they lose, or else we’d have a soccer match where when the team loses the player just decides to go off the field. No, they do not do that, they just keep on playing trying as hard as they can even though the score is high. /rant.
- Quit my job, looking for other better jobs out there.
That’s about it, hopefully I’ll get some stuffs done.
FNM!
Posted by mkhairul - March 20, 2008 at 12:03:24 pm - No CommentsCategories: magic
Its been quite some time, my mind have been wandering quite a lot, mostly in limbo. Its like one of those office space moments when you just don’t want to do anything and just phase out.
So anyway, I’m back. Hopefully I’ll stay focused and spirited for years to come!
Alright! Yesterday’s FNM (Friday Night Magic)!
1st round, Mono White Kithkin (stupid mistakes done, bad luck on drawing), loss 0-2.
2nd round, Mono White Kithkin AGAIN (good hand, better luck), won with enough damage swinging with Silvergill Adept, Merrow Reejerey, Stonybrook Banneret and Mirror Entity, 2nd game mirror entity swinging with reejerey and sygg and deals 15 dmg, won 2-0.
3rd round, Mono Green Elf. I swing hard and won 1st match. 2nd match, I didn’t sideboard and got beaten pretty bad with his Eyes of the Wisent on the board. Sideboarded Pollen Lullaby and Teferi’s Moat (which obviously was answered with krosan’s grip), for some reason I have no idea why the hell I didn’t put in my WoG. I should’ve put it in! Argh! I got ran over by creatures and Essence Warden adding his life total to 36 with Elvish Promenade. Loss 1-2.
Since Eyes of the Wisent is pretty much Mono Green’s Answer to blue users, I should’ve put in Voidmage Prodigy and Summon the School. It should buy me sometime to control the board.
More playtesting and practice!
PHP Interactive

Before I forget about this stuff. I’d better write it down. I’ve been wondering about PHP’s the existance of PHP interactive shell for quite some time and searched to no avail but few minutes ago I checked and there’s phpsh written by facebook developer (ironically developed in Python). I took a look and its aimed at *nix platform (well I could install Cygwin but.. no) so currently I’m using PHP Interactive as a means to test my ideas and stuffs.
All that we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about

The connection session of the office account got stuck again. While the admin is calling the ISP to kill it. I took my time organizing my desktop. Reading whatever that needs to be read and put it away in some folder (which soon to be forgotten) for archiving purposes.
One of these files were a powerpoint slide of Jeff Atwood’s presentation at CUSEC 2008. There’s a slide that I can relate to a condition or situation that I’m going through thats getting me depressed for quite a while (a week or two) which is affecting my performance at work (coming in late, getting sick and oversleept most of the time). I had zero motivation to go to work except for paying the bills. And the boss nagging me all the time doesn’t help.
"All I wanted to do was share my passion for computers with everyone else. I had no outlet at work, so I turned to the internet."
I had forgotten why I wrote this blog. I was derailed (by being depressed and shit), and forgotten that I have a way to rant, which is through my blog.
In the office, I’m the only programmer (my boss programs too, but he uses funny dreamweaver stuffs called Adobe Developer Toolbox, which I avoid from using). When there’s no one to share ideas with, I get bored easily and unmotivated in the long run.
"Enthusiasm is more important than talent."
I have to fully agree with that statement. Quote from Charles Kingsley "We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about."
So, in summary of the presentation of Jeff Atwood at CUSEC 2008.
1. Work for a software company. (current)
2. Take insane risks while you’re young. (done, going to try again in 2-3 years)
3. Don’t settle. Move to where the best opportunities are. (done, willing to for big companies)
4. Enthusiasm is more important than talent. (agree)
5. Cultivate all the skills that go with programming. (trying to)
6. BLOG! (trying to)
Now I have to go and write up some admin guideline for cyberjaya.gov.my! :\
