Was just doing some modifications to the inventory program(side project) that I made using VB6. For demo purpose. Finding a way to include all the needed DLLs and other stuffs so that it would install and run on various windows platform. Anyway, first of all, I tried to find a way to pack all the necessary files needed to run a compiled Python program. Seems that py2exe wont do it. I remembered of doing it at home.. last year and started browse for clues. Behold! It was McMillan Installer. I remembered the pain and suffering I have to ordeal to make this thing work. with Spec files etc etc. Ugh!. I’ve already done this in the past but couldt quite remember all the details. VB tutorial site that I searched through for this is here.

I decided to just compile it using py2exe.. and package the binary of the inventory program with the python program using Setup Factory. Its easier. When I have the time i’ll look back at McMillan Installer and use it with UPX.

Its nearly end of the month. I havent got paid. I’m out of cash. Everything at the office is demoralizing. I came in late at 11.00 am instead of 9.30 am. I havent gotten my payslip for the last 1-2 months. I’m starting to think that the administrator is incompetent. For crying out loud, this is an HR Consultancy company. Its consulting people about Human Resource and Management and yet i’m demoralizing. Sometimes I think doing routine mundane work like washing plates, serving dishes or other kind of jobs is better than this. Anyway there’s so many factors thats decreasing my enthusiasm.

I think i’m going home early today. Maybe at 6pm. That’ll be great even though the bus on my way back will be full. Sore-ja

I think it is better to use english throughout my blog. Chaotic use of words might just be enough drive me nuts when I review this in the future.

As I arrived at the office today, I searched the net for any mods for BG2 thats been implement with DnD 3rd ed rules. It is so much more convenient and interesting to play with 3rd edition rules. I unveiled to myself, GemRB (Game Engine Made with Rendering Background, in other words, it is an Infinity Engine made from scratch or perhaps an Emulator) and IcewindGate (an attempt to convert BG2 2nd Edition rules to 3rd edition). It seems that IcewindGate converter really uses IWD2. No more TimeStop, Contingency? What the hell? I’ll try to finish the game first and then i’ll use IcewindGate. Missed the spacious inventory in IWD2. *sigh*

The Icewind Dale 2 party i’m currently using with Heart of Fury mode is, Sigmar (Fighter 5 / BattleGuard of Tempus 11), Painbearer of Ilmater 1 / Monk 15 (forgot his name), Katarina (Bard 16), Lyssandra (Fighter 8 / Rogue 8), Khairul (Wizard 16), Eliandar (Fighter 3 / Druid 13). They’re doing quite well, without the help of Cera Sumat. But I dont know if they can challenge the Lost Followers in this Heart of Fury. I’m currently at Shaengarne Bridge fighting Orcs. Typically when surrounded, I (khairul) casts Mirror Image and Wail of Banshee to mop the mob and then summon Undead and other sorts of animals (they’re enhanced too! as other creatures in Heart of Fury).

Oh well, its lunch time. Itadakimasu!!

I dont think there’s much to do now. My mind is set for home. Review what I’ve done today, play BG2, and think about Rafiq’s wifi project idea and maybe read a few e-books.

Pada 24/01/05, tengah dok jalan pegi dekat bus stop, ada la 2 bijik kereta dok bawak laju.. pecut maut nye. Agaknye dah terer sangat kot. Dalam dok jalan lepas tengok derang pecut, terpikir lak… kalau bleh buat real-driving simulator yang kene pakai virtual helmet pastu bawak la kete.. kalau eksiden ke ape, bleh stimulate the brain untuk rasa virtual pain. Hehehehe. Tapi limitkan la pain tu, kang mati lak. If the accident is fatal, pastu dia nampak org sebelah dia berdarah.. org sebelah dia nampak dia berdarah. So you know what it feels like and the consequences of your actions.

From the topic above, I’m currently playing Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadow of Amn (with Throne of Baal installed). Current party Khairul(elven fighter/mage), Minsc, Jaheira, Jan Jansen, Viconia, fighter/cleric dekat Copper Coronet. Been playing the whole day of 25/01/2005. Felt like I wasted my time, should’ve done something else, but.. its RPG!! How can I resist?! Anyway, I’m also playing IWD2 in Heart of Fury mode. Man.. those monsters are a tough nut to crack.

Hari ni satu hari buat Email Facility Requirement. Sepatutnya sejam je tapi macam macam pulak bende kene consider sebab dia nak macam a whole new thing kat situ. Server, cable, UPS, streamyx etc etc.

Sambil-sambil buat tu browse Friendster, wikipedia’s Magic the Gathering, baca pasal TSR, browse Librenix, The Mathematics of Magic the Gathering. Tu je kot. Tak sempat nak baca benda lain.

Esok boss takde gi jakarta. Hrmm… I hope I can continue reading on the things that i wanted to read on 24/01/2005.

Tak buat banyak benda pun masa kerja, review / update bugs yang ada kat bugtracking system.
Sambil sambil tu.. tengok blog yang berkaitan ngan python.

Selain daripada tu, aku browse Freshmeat untuk tengok tengok software apa baru keluar.
Antara bende yang aku berminat.. groupware groupware ni ah. Belambak lambak. eGroupware, Opengroupware.. etc. Bukan saje browse application application nih, aku tengok development derang gak. Cara derang manage projek nih, bugtracking, code standard, banyak lagi.

Scheduling software yang lain, malas nak pandang dah, bukan apa.. banyak sangat dah aku browse rasanya pc yang aku guna ni macam nak merajuk pulak dok install macam macam. For now aku guna Memoranda dengan GanttProject. Dua dua standalone, malas nak pakai web-based.

Esok check developer’s section untuk opengroupware. Hari ni browse blog-blog pasal python (Sambil buat keje ah).

In the beginning…

Pagi ni, seperti biasa rutin nak gi kerja, kena gi tunggu bas. Dalam perjalanan nak gi kat tempat bas lalu, dia dah mai dah. Makcik yang ada kat depan tu dah berlari dah. Aku ngan beg laptop seberat 6-8 kg nak lari? Pura-pura gi kedai runcit.. biar bas tu beredar( kang dia tunggu lak, pastu org dalam ngata macam macam dalam bas ) pastu tunggu bas yang lain.

Gaji blom masuk. Duit kurang rm50. Makan sehari sekali (tambah sekali untuk roti/makanan ringan). Images are fading.. cant see clearly… Harap-harap bleh tahan sampai dapat gaji.

Hari ni burn BG2 & Throne of Bhaal. Planescape: Torment pun rindu gak, tapi dah main 4-5 kali dah. BG2 baru main 2-3 kali.

If knowledge is material, i think people would appreciate those who give it to them more. But such is not the way it is now. Most doesnt value immaterial things.

Anyway. Esok cuti Thaipusam (Selangor)
